I’d be for that! But I have to do OW check- out dives that weekend. Huge class because it will be towards the end of the season

To all, new and old; what was the ONE biggest hurdle to overcome during your Basic O/W class?
Mine was: ”what/how are they breathing underwater?!?”
Mine was mask clearing. I am in no way putting down my instructor nor the agency I learned under, but I really wish I would have had to practice the skill over & over. Instead we were only required to demonstrate the skill once in the pool & once in open water. That is probably the 1 skill that gives new divers the most trouble. I was nowhere near comfortable doing that skill & guarded the mask on my face with my life. After some dives & practice down the road, it finally started to become comfortable to clear & then finally remove my mask. I STILL can not open my eyes underwater though.
I got shivers when we surface swam over the ledge from 6ft to 80 ft deep. Maybe I’m a little scared of heights?
I’d imagine it was probably buoyancy. I’ve got it pretty much under control now, but it did take awhile. Other than that it was probably paying attention to my instructor instead of the fish and cool stuff underwater!

That’s not a bad price at all. Wish it weren’t so close to Galapagos, or I would go.

I noticed that Aquatech’s treasure hunt is this Saturday (according to Pennyroyal’s events calendar). Is that correct?

It has been postponed. Will probably be done in Aug.

True. Aquatech’s Oriskany trip got canceled yesterday because of the spill.
I was hoping to utilize my Adv. Nitrox/ deco skills a bit, but it was not meant to be.Instead I’m down here in Cave country & going to do some cave diving!!!!

Money for the Dale Hollow trip is now due, in full, by next months club meeting (July 13th). I believe the amount is still $170 per diver at this time, but that is subject to go down as we get more people signed up.
From the club meeting last night, here is the list of people currently going:

KathyI also believe that Bryan is going (not confirmed) and possibly Kate. So this trip is on for sure. Some of us will be leaving Friday morning, August 12th to head down and get everything setup. Those coming late should probably make sure you have someone’s phone number so we can coordinate everything.

If you want to consider pool diving as such. Plenty of that for sure, just not Open Water diving. Will get to do so this weekend.
By the way,…. anyone going to the quarry Memorial Day Weekend? I know Trever said he & his son were & I’m teaching. Anyone else?

Going on a motorcycle ride tomorrow and Misty has to work Sunday and Monday.
And yes, it has been very quiet around here. I’d say ”lately”, but it’s been like this for a long time now. ;-(

Mermet weekend is this weekend. Who plans on being there? Unfortunately, Misty and I will not. Diving, in general, will probably be sparse for us again this year. Too many other things taking our money. ;-(
